Also today the Norwegian federation officially disclosed the names of the athletes and the athletes that will make up the national cross-country teams ahead of the 2017 season - '' 18.

They will be 22 cross-country skiers, 14 men and 8 women, who belong to the elite teams. The Director Vidar Løfsus explains some choices: "We started the selections already in winter, following the traditional procedures. There's some guy in less because at the FIS Congress in Cancun to be held in Mexico in June could be new rules on allowances for the World Cup, so there is the risk of being able to deploy a small number of distance runners in every race ".
In the male, the 14 cross-country skiers selected are divided into 8 in the allround team and 6 in that sprint. The 8 girls instead belong to one team. Few surprises: Emil Iversen and Anders Gløersen pass to allround team, while Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget and Sindre Bjørnestad Skar belong to that sprint. In the women the only new face is to Kari Oyre Slind. I rejected, than last season, are Simen Sveen, Pål Golberg, Chris Jespersen, Tomas Northug, Martine Ek Hagen, Kathrine Harsem and Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes.
