After having renounced the stages of the World Cup scheduled for December, the Scandinavian national team has announced that it will be present at the Tour de Ski, contrary to what was decided by Norway.

"We have studied everything together with the federation in the smallest details, we will arrive in Switzerland in a small airport and we will go directly to the hotel, to avoid contacts with external parties" - says to "Aftonbladet" the head of security of the Swedish team Anders Byström. "The problems linked to the infection can manifest themselves in every stage. We saw it during Ruka's weekend, excellent from the point of view of the results, but which left us several perplexities regarding the safety issue".
The first nation to reveal doubts about the anti-contagion rules was Norway, which a few days after the Finnish races in Ruka had announced that it would not participate in the December races and subsequently in the Tour de Ski. Sweden and Finland had followed the Norwegian path as far as the World Cup is concerned, but today the news of the Swedish decision to participate in the Tour de Ski arrived; certainly an excellent news for the world of cross-country skiing and for a competition that, therefore, will not lose further value after the Norwegian renunciation.
In addition, the national team doctor Per Andersson added: "We said that in order to make a final decision we would have to see the evolution of the epidemiological curve in Switzerland and Italy, fortunately cases are decreasing in both countries. Clearly I am taking on a great responsibility together with the federation, because if any athlete or staff member were to become infected it would mean having made the wrong choices ".
It remains to be understood what Finland will decide, the only Scandinavian nation that has not yet dissolved its reservations regarding participation in the Tour de Ski, which already with the Swedish presence will certainly be more spectacular.
