The news of the 46th Dobbiaco-Cortina, the great cross-country classic scheduled for 4-5 February 2023

Two days of competition, first with the classic test and then with the 42 km in skating for an event that is intertwined with the World Cup.

A great opportunity, born of what could have appeared as a problem. The recent announcement by the FIS, with the assignment of three days of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup at the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco on the same date as the historic Dobbiaco-Cortina Granfondo, had aroused some perplexity. Instead, the ability, sportsmanship and sensitivity of the two presidents of the Dobbiaco committees, Herbert Santer (Granfondo Dobbiaco-Cortina) and Gerti Taschler (OK Dobbiaco), made it possible to find an ideal solution after a meeting with the mayor of Dobbiaco, Martin Rienzner. . The 46th Dobbiaco-Cortina will take place on the first weekend of February with the two traditional days of competition, Saturday 4 in classic technique and Sunday 5 in skating, the World Cup will take place regularly from 3 to 5 February. The opportunity? Simple: on Friday, but also on Saturday and probably also on Sunday the granfondisti will be able to attend the World Cup. On Friday Dobbiaco-Cortina is on the eve, the 10 km Cup on Saturday should be in the afternoon and so, perhaps, also the relay on Sunday. The races of the maximum circuit in this way will have a greater audience on the track side. The solid organizing committee of the Dobbiaco-Cortina Granfondo, chaired by Herbert Santer with his deputy Igor Gombac and with the support of the South Tyrolean and Cortina institutions, is already rolling up its sleeves to fulfill the wishes of the many fans of narrow skis. The union is strength and all the staff of the granfondo, the most historic in Italy after the Marcialonga, know how to team up and act with the right team spirit, coordinating all the energies and resources available. The 46th Dobbiaco-Cortina will bring with it a novelty regarding the route: the large platoon of skiers will start in the new location in Val di Landro, from the plain overlooking the suggestive Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Unesco World Heritage Site. The group will then move towards Dobbiaco and towards Lake Dobbiaco, another key point of the race, while about 1.5 km from the Nordic Arena there will be the turning point that will catapult everyone towards the War Cemetery, back to the lake. di Landro and view of the Tre Cime, and in order the passage to Carbonin, Passo Cimabanche (Coppi peak for the day), Ospitale, Fiames and the expected arrival in the center of Cortina, where work has already begun in view of the next Winter Olympics. This novelty is added to that of the same distance for the classic and skating races, which will both measure the beauty of 42 km. The technical details of the various routes, as well as the new elevation and the map of the refreshment points will be revealed by the end of July. Also for skating lovers, therefore, a “real” granfondo following the historical route for both techniques, without the initial stretch from the Dobbiaco airport and the crossing of the Nordic Arena which will be set up for the World Cup. Registrations for the 46th Granfondo Dobbiaco-Cortina are obviously open, until 30 September the fees amount to 80 euros for the classic race and 65 euros for the skating one, while those wishing to participate in both must pay a fee of 145 euros. The Alta Pusteria is therefore preparing to host two high-level and highly spectacular events for the general public, who can enjoy a weekend full of emotions and sports in a truly enchanted setting.
