The Italian cross-country ski has lost a symbol in the night: at the age of 84 Fides Romanin, the first Italian female flag-bearer at an edition of the Winter Olympic Games, disappeared on the occasion of the Oslo 1952 five-ring event.
Together with the other Friulian and the same age as Ildegarda Taffra, Fides Romanin was also the first Azzurri to compete in the fund in an Olympic competition, an experience that after Oslo it also did in Cortina 1956.
The Romanin, who wore the colors of Monte Coglians, also participated in the 1954 World Falun Championships and in her palmares boasts 10 medals at the Italian Championships, obtained between 1951 and 1959, with two golds, five silvers and three bronzes. The president of FISI FVG, Maurizio Dunnhofer, in addition to the board of directors and the whole world of regional skiing, immediately addressed the most heartfelt condolences to the Fides' family members, to whom we obviously join together with the entire editorial staff of NeveItalia.
