After Therese Johaug comes another excellent retreat at Norway: Maiken Caspersen Falla, specialist in sprint races, has chosen to end his competitive career, communicating his decision through a post that appeared on his social profiles.

The last jolt at the beginning of March in her Drammen, in a season that had been very complicated for the veteran Norwegian cross-country ski sprinter: Maiken Falla said stop, deciding to end her competitive career.
The '90s class originally from Lorenskog was one of the strongest speicalists in the last decade of sprint races, also managing to conquer three sprint specialty cups (2016, 2017 and 2018). During his career in CdM he has collected twenty-two individual victories and six in sprint and relay teams, as well as another forty-two in individual races and relay races. Five world titles also appear in his palmarés, including the individual sprints of Lahti 2017 and Seefeld 2019, topped off with a silver and four bronzes. Her Olympic haul is also very good, where she was Olympic champion on the snows of Sochi in 2014; at Pyeonchang 2018 he obtained silver in the individual sprint and bronze in the team sprint.
Falla made his debut in CdM on November 29, 2008 in Kuusamo in Finland, obtaining his first victory in January 2011 in Liberec in the sprint team, paired with Marit Bjoergen. In the last season the Norwegian cross-country skier faced some difficulties, still remaining the lighthouse of Norway in the sprint races and still climbing twice on the podium, in the opening in Ruka (3rd place) and closing the splendid circle in the his Drammen, where he triumphed six times, the last time just last March 3.
This is his thought entrusted to social media, with which he greeted all his fans: "Thanks to everyone for the support, I have spent many fantastic years in the world of cross-country skiing. In 12 years I have achieved much more than I could think . In the last few seasons I have had to fight hard, I think the time has come to take care of myself. I am particularly grateful to all the people who have been close to me over the years and to the whole world of cross-country skiing. Saying goodbye is very sad, but still beautiful and fair, with the curiosity to know life outside of sport. Thanks for the opportunity! "
