Marcialonga 2021: despite post-Covid-19 uncertainties, registrations for edition 48 have already reopened

There are already 5800 accessions, from June 3 new opening towards the event scheduled for January 30-31 next.

Marcialonga is stronger than Covid-19. In truth, at the Predazzo headquarters, in view of the 48th edition of the very classic of the fund, scheduled for 30 and 31 January 2021, work has never stopped, but the organizing committee is firmly on the ground. It is true that to date there are no certainties about mass events, but the president Angelo Corradini and the general manager Davide Stoffie have developed a whole series of hypotheses evaluating the rules in force and preparing different initiatives, to ensure that the 48th Marcialonga di Fiemme and Fassa can be carried out regularly. No one underestimates the requirements for the containment of the virus, but with such complex manifestations one cannot certainly improvise and there are many cross-country skiers, Italian and foreign, to ask for the opportunity to register. So, in the meantime, it was decided to reopen the registrations after those reserved for international agencies and Italian tour operators, who have already reached 1,500 and 2,300 bibs respectively, while the individual registrations already accepted are at an altitude of 2,000, bringing today the total figure to 5,800 members. The organizers believe that there will not be the usual race to the bib given the uncertainties, especially as regards international travel, and so we start in small steps. On Wednesday 3 June, registrations will open for Worldloppet passport holders, the race circuit that brings together, one by nation, the most successful cross-country ski racers in the world. From Monday 8 June, however, a window reserved again for residents of the valleys of Fiemme and Fassa, with the office of Predazzo at full capacity, and at the same time the opening of online applications with a window of up to 1,000 bibs. Marcialonga offers the usual intense program with the "satellite" events Baby, Mini, Young, Stars and Story, all subordinate to what the authorities will allow for major events, especially in terms of social distancing. Corradini, always ready to go, remembers: "With the skis on your feet inside the track, the two meters are all there, one track is 1.2 meters away from the other ...".
