Mikael Abram takes the 31st "Sgambeda". Fantastic hat-trick for the female Team Robinson

In Livigno the cross-country classic with lots of blue in the light and Donzallaz and Caminada behind Frida Erkers. All the results.

The battalion is just made up of 500 men, as many as at the 31st Sgambeda yesterday in Livigno, a battalion defeated by ... a luxury Alpine, the Aosta Valley Mikael Abram of the CS Army, an authentic strategist who made the leading men wear out , then in view of the finish he left the train of the leaders winning the victory over Mauro Brigadoi from Trentino and Jan Srail from Czech Republic. Simon & Garfunkel's famous “Mrs Robinson” could have been sung for the women's competition. First Frida Erkers, Team Robinson Trentino, second Nicole Donzallaz, Team Robinson Trentino, third Chiara Caminada, also Team Robinson Trentino, with an all-blue podium, like the new color of the Trentino team suits. First of all, a good race, mild temperatures for Livigno, just below zero, sky sometimes gray and sometimes blue, truly splendid slopes, 30 km in fascinating skating, an authentic paradise for cross-country skiers who have always come from all over the world to train in height. Two laps of the cross-country ski center, then up towards Vago and towards Forcola, then back down the parallel track, also passing next to the biathlon polygon, finally closing in the stadium after a short excursion in the Livigno plain. Team Robinson's "tactical" deployment, with skimans able to conquer all the top positions with skis on the starting tracks, but outside the stadium it was above all the two standard bearers of Team Sottozero, Hollandt and Busin, who commanded the scene, then a group of about ten has been created with all the best. A continuous hitting and beating until the final stretch with Abram who, after having slyly checked the situation, set fire to the powders, stretched out alone and Brigadoi's effort to hook up the fugitive was useless, also because the Trentino is preparing the season in Visma classic. Victory therefore of Mikael Abram, followed by Brigadoi. Just 6 ”and the Czech Jan Srail also jumped on the podium, 3rd, in front of Saverio Zini from Livigno, biathlete of the CS Army. Hollandt and Ferrari evidently paid dearly for the effort of the initial attack and placed themselves behind Zini, but ahead of the expected Kristoffersen, albeit a specialist in the classic. In truth, Abram did not know that in the final the race also stretched beyond the stadium for a couple of kilometers, and so his sprint was really long, but he never risked being caught. The women's race did not have a great history. The Swedes from Team Robinson Trentino managed the challenge well from start to finish, after all Erkers knew well that behind her teammates Donzallaz and Caminada were in control of the situation. The challenge ended with a large gap between the Swedish and the Swiss, over 8 minutes, a sign that Erkers really has a great engine ahead of the Ski Classics season. And we also saw the timeless Marianna Longa who, although short of training and with pure amateur spirit, finished in tenth place. Overall a good event, just a pity that the anti-Covid limitations have set the maximum number of participants at 500 and did not allow the usual pasta party, but the first granfondo of the season was much appreciated by pros and amateurs. “The race went well - Abram said at the finish - I had really top skis, I was fine despite my legs a little hard since yesterday. The snow was fast and very beautiful, I did not think there was the part underneath, but that it was cut, and therefore the 'last kilometer I was at the ... pole ”. Frida Erkers is also happy and smiling: “It was a lot of fun, it's nice to be in Italy and start the season like this. The snow was very nice, during the week it was dry and slow, but today it was much better ”. Satisfaction also on the part of the APT of Livigno with the president Luca Moretti: “The return to normality can also be seen with sport. In Livigno sport is the engine of tourism, the Sgambeda for us is always the key to opening the season. It is an event for champions and amateurs but above all wanted and realized by our special volunteers, to whom all the applause of the APT goes. Tradition has been respected. With the Sgambeda in fact all the cross-country tracks are now accessible, like the whole ski area. We are ready for a special season, everything will depend on the Italian and global situation of Covid. Our tourism has always been fueled by foreigners too ". And on Sunday the grand finale with the MiniSgambeda, an authentic youth sport festival, to close the curtain of the long cross-country skiing weekend in Livigno which began on Friday with the Coppa Italia.
