Lahti World Cup: Russia triumphs in the Mixed Team Event

The last race of the Junior World Championships in Lahti was the Mixed Team Event won by Russia ahead of Norway and Germany.

Russia wins and does not do it as a favorite playing a race to its fullest potential. After the first spin of jumps the Russian lineup was already ahead with 490.6 points, second Norway with 482.6 points and third Germany to 479.8. The best of the winning quartet was Anna Sphyneva who was able to perform in both the jumps important distances with impeccable style, the partner Lidiia Iakovleva less clean in the landings did however important jumps for the final victory. The two men of the Russian team Maksim Sergeev and Mikhail Purtov, have played a performance at the level of the result with excellent technical gestures. The silver medal went to Norway with 4.8 points from the first, with a good race although with some errors by Ingebjoerg Saglien Braaten who struggled to keep the level of team-mates Fredrik Villumstad, Silje Opseth and Thomas Aasen Markeng. In third place was Germany at 964.8 points, with a performance probably contaminated by some questionable choices on the order of athletes in the race with Selina Freitag not very bright right on the jump starting lower and an Agnes Reisch undertone respect to the jumps of the previous days. In the Teutonic team Luca Roth and Costantin Schmid, however, played a good race with jumps to the height of the Norwegians. The Italians closed the eighth with the quartet composed of: Giada Tomaselli, Francesco Cecon, Lara Malsiner and Giovanni Bresadola. Final ranking
