The news had been in the air for a few months, in these days the confirmation from the FIS race director of cross-country skiing Pierre Mignerey has arrived. The final races of the world championship cross-country skiing program will therefore start from the Italian territory.

Excellent news for the world of Italian winter sports and especially for Friuli Venezia-Giulia: the women's 30 km and the men's 50 km of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica, scheduled respectively on 4 and 5 March 2023, will start from Tarvisio, to reach the Slovenian border of Fusine after just over 10 km.
The rumors had already become quite insistent in recent months, now it's all true, as confirmed by the FIS race director Pierre Mignerey: much of the credit goes without a doubt to the FISI FVG, in particular for the work done together with the former cross-country skier Gabriella Paruzzi, born in Tarvisio, member of the FIS cross-country skiing section, without forgetting the precious contribution of the president of the organizing committee EYOF 2023, Maurizio Dunnhofer.
The races should start from the central square of Tarvisio, continuing for about 10 km along the cycle path, thus reaching the international border of Fusine. In addition to the beauty of the sporting event itself, it will be an excellent showcase for Friuli Venezia-Giulia, especially for Tarvisio, as commented by the governor of the region Massimiliano Fedriga.
More than thirty international television magazines will be connected, an opportunity to promote and enhance these splendid landscapes that is more unique than rare.
