The Norwegian champion aims to be fit in the first season races to win the call of Tor Harne Hetland for the opening of the World Cup in Ruka on 24 November. His debut will be in Bruksvallarna (Swe) on November 11 and 12, where he will take part in a 15 km and a sprint, both of which are free. The next weekend will be in Beitostølen (Nor), on this occasion will have to earn the pass for the World Cup.
According to Norwegian media reports, its number one goal for the winter would be the 15 km free-to-air individual Olympics. Surely the path to get there will be long and tortuous but Northug is willing to go to top form at what could be the last Olympics of his glorious career.
