The FIS inspection of the Olympic cross-country skiing facility was positive

A little less than four months after the start of the five-circle event, a delegation from the FIS went to the Zhangjiakou area, where the cross-country skiing competitions will take place.

The Beijing 2022 Olympic Games are approaching more and more and it is time for inspections by the various federations, in the venues where all the competitions will be staged. A few days ago, the control of the facility that will host the biathlon, cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined competitions was completed; in particular this inspection took place for cross-country skiing, coordinated by FIS race director Pierre Mignerey and race assistant Michal Lamplot. The two representatives of the international federation met with local insiders at the '' Kuyangshu Nordic Center '', which is located in the Zhangjakou area, a town located in the Hebei province, 220 km north-west of Beijing. . "We were surprised by the progress of the work and we would like, on behalf of the entire FIS, to publicly thank the BOCOG team, the city of Zhangjkaou and the owner of the plant for all the work done. We have seen and studied some details that they can make the races even better, without a hitch. Thanks again to everyone involved in organizing this inspection. " - this is the more than positive opinion by the cross-country ski race director, Pierre Mignerey. The construction works of the plant began in 2016, which, after the inspection carried out, possesses the requirements listed in the '' FIS International Competition Rules '', therefore it is approved to host international competitions. The track, which has the particularity of being located 1800 meters above sea level, had been previously tested by Chinese national athletes.
