From December 28 2013 to 5th of January 2014, played between Germany (Oberhof), Switzerland (Lenzerheide) and Italy (Val di Fiemme), the eighth edition of the Tour de Ski. The first edition of the Tour de Ski takes place between December 31, 2006 and January 7, 2007 and sees the victory of Virpi Kuitunen ahead of Marit Bjoergen and Valentina Shevchenko. The Finnish brings home two partial successes (sprint in Asiago and 15 km classic mass start line in Cavalese), a stage win instead for Marit Bjoergen (sprint of Monaco of Bavaria, the first step in absolute history of the Tour de Ski), Kristin Steira (double tracking of Oberstdorf), Petra Majdic (10 km classic technique of Oberstdorf) and Kateřina Neumannová (scaled to Cermis).
The second edition takes place between December 28, 2007 and January 6, 2008. A win is a surprise Charlotte Kalla, who insult the ramps Cermis Virpi Kuitunen, third place for Arianna Follis. The third edition of the Tour de Ski trips December 27, 2008 and ends January 4, 2009. Back to the victory Virpi Kuitunen, first athlete - including men - to give an encore and able to impose itself in three stages (tracking Oberhof, 9 km classic technique of Nove Mesto and 10 km classic mass start line Lake Tesero). On the final podium with her compatriot Aino Kaisa Saarinen and Slovenian Petra Majdic. Arianna Follis is imposed in both sprint program (Prague Nove Mesto), while the first and the last trial (prologue in Oberhof and climbing the Cermis) were won respectively by Clauda Nystad and Therese Johaug, success in the first stage of which he is still the undisputed queen.
The fourth edition takes place entirely in 2010, the first stage January 1st, final ten. Here comes the first of four consecutive triumphs of Justyna Kowalczyk, who takes home two stages (tracking Oberhof and 5 km classic technique of Dobbiaco). Behind him come Petra Majdic (which is also achieved in three stages and a prologue in Oberhof sprint and 10km classic mass start line Tesero Lake), and Arianna Follis, the first Italian able to get on podium at the Tour de Ski, as well as the winner of the 15 km pursuit in Toblach. The two remaining stages, Sprint Prague and climbing the Cermis were won respectively by Natalia Korosteleva and Kristin Steira.
The fifth edition takes place between December 31, 2010 and January 9, 2011. According to triumph Justyna Kowalczyk, who in the absence of Bjoergen has no rival, also winning four stages (prologue and pursuit in Oberhof, 15 km pursuit in Toblach 10 km classic mass start line of Lake Tesero) , an absolute record - then equaled by Bjoergen - in the same edition of the Tour de Ski. They climb on the podium Therese Johaug (which he won for the second time to climb the Cermis) and Marianna Longa. The three remaining stages are the prerogative of Petra Majdic (both sprint to Oberstdorf and the Dobbiaco) and Anna Haag (double tracking of Oberstdorf).
The sixth edition, which took place between December 29, 2011 and January 8, 2012, is a duel between Justyna Kowalczyk, who manages to prevail due to the greater ability to climb Cermis, and Marit Bjoergen, who must be content with the square of honor as in 2007. Both won four stages (Prologue and pursuit in Oberhof, Sprint Oberstdorf and 10 km mass start classic technique with Lake Tesero the Polish skiathlon Oberstdorf 3 km classic sprint and 15km to the pursuit of Dobbiaco Norwegian), the only village not monopolized by the top two teams is the climb to Cermis, which was won for the third consecutive year by Therese Johaug, who also finished third overall.
The seventh and last to date edition of the Tour de Ski, which starts December 29, 2012 and ends on January 6, 2013, sees the new waiver Marit Bjoergen and therefore the new monologue by Justyna Kowalczyk, who cuts in solitary for the fourth time consecutive goal Cermis. As can be seen from the summary of the previous editions, Justyna Kowalczyk is the athlete who has won the most number of times the Tour de Ski, four hits total (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013), making it the holder of the absolute record , including men. The Polish is also the one that has won more stages, fourteen, even in this case it is an absolute record considering men.
Three podiums final won by Italian. The company has managed to Arianna Follis twice (in 2008 and 2010), while a podium was conquered by Marianna Longa (in 2011). The Piedmont is also the only blue to have obtained partial successes, four, three sprint (Prague 2007 and 2008, Nove Mesto 2009) and the pursuit of Dobbiaco 2010. From point out again that was the only Italian Follis, including men, who wore the red bib overall leader of the Tour de Ski.
That which is about to begin will be the eighth edition of the race multistage World Cup Cross Country Skiing born first. Seven steps foreseen: the traditional opening prologue in Oberhof for (3 km free technique December 28) and tracking (10 km classic December 29), after a day of rest and then we will move to Switzerland, in Lenzerheide, location unprecedented in the history of the Tour de Ski, a sprint free technique (December 31) and a 10 km mass start classic technique with (New Year's Day).
