From December 28 2013 to 5th of January 2014, played between Germany (Oberhof), Switzerland (Lenzerheide) and Italy (Val di Fiemme), the eighth edition of the Tour de Ski. Here will be presented the event as far as the male sector, for the presentation of the women's competition can be found at THIS LINK.

The first edition of the Tour de Ski takes place between December 31, 2006 and January 7, 2007 and sees the victory of Tobias Angerer in front of Alexander Legkov and Simen Oestensen. Curiously, none of the first three finishers won even one of the six stages played, that venno instead Christoph Eigenmann (sprint of Monaco of Bavaria, the first stop ever in the history of the Tour de Ski), Vincent Vittoz (double tracking of Oberstdorf), Franz Göring (15 km classic technique of Oberstdorf), Tor Arne Hetland (sprint in Asiago), Eldar Rønning (30 km classic mass start line in Cavalese) and Sergey Shiriaev (scaled to Cermis).
The second edition takes place between December 28, 2007 and January 6, 2008. The winner Lukas Bauer preceding Rene Sommerfeldt and Giorgio Di Centa. For the Czech arrive two partial successes, the prologue of Nove Mesto and the 15 km classic technique always Nove Mesto, a place that houses four stages, the two originally scheduled and the two planned to move in Oberhof, but the absence of snow. The other stage successes go to Emmanuel Jonnier (first pursuit of Nove Mesto), Nikolay Morilov (sprint in Prague), Peter Piller (according to tracking Nove Mesto), Petter Northug (sprint in Asiago), Odd-Bjorn Hjelmeset (20 km classic mass start line of Lake Tesero) and Rene Sommerfeldt (scaled to Cermis).
The third edition of the Tour de Ski trips December 27, 2008 and ends January 4, 2009. It records the first of three final victories Dario Cologna, able to establish itself in the second stage, the pursuit of Oberhof. On the podium with him soar Petter Northug, who won the sprint in Asiago, and Axel Teichmann, which imposes itself in three stages, first to succeed in such an undertaking in the same edition of the Tour de Ski prologue in Oberhof, the 15 km classic technique of Nove Mesto and the 20 km mass start classic technique with Lake Tesero. Tor Arne Hetland (sprint in Prague) and Ivan Babikov (scaled to Cermis) are the other two are able to bring home a partial success.
The fourth edition takes place entirely in 2010, the first stage January 1st, final ten. A little 'surprise Lukas Bauer - who that year was not shining - becomes the first man in history to win two editions of the Tour de Ski, Czech, who also won the last two stages (20 km classic technique with starting line of Lake Tesero and climbing the Cermis) precedes Petter Northug and Dario Cologna. The Norwegian is consoled by triumphing in three stages (the first two, and tracking prologue in Oberhof, and Cortina-Dobbiaco). Partial successes for Eldar Rønning and Emil Jönsson, respectively sprint in Oberhof and Prague, and Daniel Richardsson in the 10 km tc Dobbiaco.
The fifth edition takes place between December 31, 2010 and January 9, 2011. Bis Dario Cologna, also winner of two stages, the pursuit of Oberhof and Cortina-Dobbiaco, which imposes itself in front of those who had beaten in the previous edition, Petter Northug and Lukas Bauer, able to win the last two stages, respectively the 20 km classic mass start line Tesero Lake and climb to Cermis. The four remaining stages see the successes of Marcus Hellner (prologue in Oberhof), Emil Jönsson (sprint in Oberstdorf), Matti Heikkinen (double tracking of Oberstdorf) and Devon Kershaw (sprint Toblach).
The sixth edition, which took place between December 29, 2011 and January 8, 2012, see Dario Cologna go down in history as the first man to win three times in the Tour de Ski. For the Swiss, who is accompanied on the podium by Marcus Hellner and Petter Northug, even a stage win in Cortina-Dobbiaco. Two stages are won by Northug (prologue in Oberhof and skiathlon Oberstdorf) and Alexander Legkov (5 km classic technique of Dobbiaco and climbing the Cermis), while a partial success goes to Axel Teichmann (tracking Oberhof), Nikita Kriukov ( sprint in Oberstdorf), Nikolay Morilov (sprint Toblach) and Eldar Rønning (20 km classic mass start line of Lake Tesero).
The seventh and last to date edition of the Tour de Ski, which starts December 29, 2012 and ends on January 6, 2013, is a triumph of Russian Alexander Legkov first and Maxim Vylegzhanin (winner of the second stage, the pursuit of Oberhof) third. Between the two the usual Dario Cologna, the fifth consecutive podium finish. Two other partial successes to Petter Northug (prologue in Oberhof and Cortina-Dobbiaco) and Alexey Poltoranin (5 km tc Toblach 15 km classic mass start line of Lake Tesero) a victory apiece for Finn Hagen Krogh (sprint Val Münstair) and Marcus Hellner (scaled to Cermis).
As already mentioned, the most successful rider in the Tour de Ski is Dario Cologna, able to establish itself in three editions (2009, 2011 and 2012). The Swiss was also the one who has risen several times on the final podium, five consecutive times from 2009 to 2013. Petter Northug is instead the record holder of stages won, ten, which allowed him to climb on the podium four times without ever having to cut the line first Cermis.
The only Italian to have finished on the podium is an issue Giorgio Di Centa, third in 2008, beaten in the sprint for second place by Rene Sommerfeldt. Peter Piller is the only blue instead to have won a stage, the pursuit of Nove Mesto 2008, a chase but particularly since the success Piller obtained by recording the fastest lap of the net, not cutting the first finish.
That which is about to begin will be the eighth edition of the race multistage World Cup Cross Country Skiing born first. Seven steps foreseen: the traditional opening prologue in Oberhof for (4 km free technique December 28) and tracking (15 km classic December 29), after a day of rest and then we will move to Switzerland, in Lenzerheide, location unprecedented in the history of the Tour de Ski, a sprint free technique (December 31) and a 15 km mass start classic technique with (New Year's Day). The second day of rest will be followed by the now traditional Cortina-Dobbiaco (January 3), the first of three villages in the Italian territory, as usual conclusion in Val di Fiemme Tesero Lake will host the 10 km classic technique starting at intervals (4 January) that will precede the grand finale, the climb to Cermis (January 5).
