Cross-country skiing: Norway and Russia squads announced for the Beijing Games

Less than a month from the start of the Olympic review, the last doubts in Norway have been resolved; excellent exclusion in the Russian men's team.

The Beijing Winter Olympics will begin on Friday 4 February 2022, as the days go by the national teams of each discipline are taking shape, with the athletes fighting for a place in the sports Olympus. Norway and Russia have announced the teams that will take part in cross-country skiing competitions these days: both nations have named sixteen athletes (eight men and eight women) respectively. Norway, which had presented in recent weeks a list of athletes already sure of the Olympic pass, has decided on the last names that will be present on Chinese soil. The eight norge will be: Johannes Klaebo, Hans Christer Holund, Emil Iversen, Erik Valnes, Haavard Taugboel, Sjur Roethe. Paal Golberg and Simen Krueger. Therefore, Harald Amundsen and Thomas Larsen were excluded. The Norwegian girls present in China will be: Maiken Falla, Helene Fossesholm, Therese Johaug, Heidi Weng, Lotta Udnes Weng, Tiril Udnes Weng, Anne Kaalva and Mathilde Myhrvold. Russia, on the other hand, will try to redeem the bad '' 0 '' in the medal table of the fund obtained in Pyeonchang. Here are the eight elements of the men's team: Alexander Bolshunov, Sergey Ustiugov, Artem Maltsev, Alexander Terentev, Ivan Yakimushkin, Denis Spitsov, Alexey Chervotkin and Ilya Semikov. The exclusion of sprinter Gleb Retivykh, confirmed also in recent days by the number one of the Russian fund Elena Vaalbe, makes noise: the few important results obtained in the first part of the season were decisive for her cut from the men's team. The list of eight Russian girls who will be at the start in the Olympic competitions was also presented: Natalia Nepryaeva, Tatiana Sorina, Yulia Stupak, Anastasia Rygalina, Veronika Stepanova, Khristina Matsokina, Lilia Vasilyeva and Maria Istomina.
