Cross-country skiing: Ivshin and Bergane conquer the final mass starts of the Vuokatti Junior World Championship

The junior world championship event ends. The Russian Alexander Ivshin won gold in the men's 30 km, ahead of the German Jean-Friedrich Doerks and the Finn Alexander Stahlberg. Good 7th place for Alessandro Chiocchetti. The Norwegian Margrethe Bergane triumphs in the women's 15 km, silver for the Swedish Lisa Eriksson and bronze for the German Helen Hoffmann.

The last two races of the Junior World Championship in Vuokatti, Finland, speak Russian and Norwegian. Alexander Ivshin took home the junior world title in the mass start, just two seconds ahead of the German Jean-Friedrich Doerks; bronze for the host Alexander Stahlberg, author of an excellent world championship. Alessandro Chiocchetti, best of the Azzurri, closed with a very good 7th place, at 40 from gold. The other blues in the race: Elia Barp 15th, Nicolò Cusini 34th and Luca Sclisizzo 54th. After two bronze medals, the Norwegian Margrethe Bergane, winner of the women's mass start, conquers the gold. Silver for the Swedish Lisa Eriksson, trailing by more than 20 seconds, who in the sprint defeated the German Helen Hoffmann, bronze. Bad for the Italians: the best was Veronica Silvestri, twenty-sixth. Thirty-ninth Sara Hutter, 44th place for Nadine Laurent, while Lucia Isonni finished in forty-sixth position. So, at the end of the youth world championship event, Italy returns home with only one medal obtained from cross-country skiing: the bronze won yesterday in the junior men's relay.
