After the concerns revealed yesterday by Johannes Klaebo and Emil Iversen, the decision was made by the Norwegian Ski Association at the end of a meeting with the leaders of the FIS.

The news is really sensational: as reported by the Norwegian newspaper "VG Sporten", the Norwegian cross-country ski team will not take part in the stages of Davos and Dresden, scheduled for the month of December. The leader of the Norwegian fund Torbjørn Skogstad says in an official statement that the decision was made after consulting the main bodies of the FIS and explained the reasons for this waiver.
Johannes Klaebo, with his declarations, had already been a precursor of this decision yesterday; today the Norwegian federation has decided to follow him in the facts, taking this decision as a precaution, so as not to take risks in view of the real seasonal goal: the World Championships in Oberstdorf, scheduled for February. "Our seasonal goal is the World Cup, it makes no sense to take risks that jeopardize the health and condition of our athletes; we will continue to train, but without trips abroad" - says the technical director of the Norwegian fund, Espen Bjervig.
At this point the presence of the Scandinavian national team in the Tour de Ski is a big question, even if some faint hope of participation is still given by Bjervig himself: "If the situation improves, we will evaluate our presence at the Tour de Ski".
Norway could be followed shortly in this decision by another top team: Sweden. Fund Swedish coach Daniel Fahraeus supported the Norwegian choice; the Swedish federation would like, for example, a Tour de Ski played in one or two locations at the most. Developments in this situation will also need to be monitored closely.
