Norway of women's cross-country skiing will have an extra card for the season that is about to begin: Ingvild Flugstad Østberg will be at the opening in Ruka, scheduled from 26 to 28 November.
The Norwegian Federation, through a press release, explained how the 31-year-old managed to recover an excellent state of form from the injury, which will allow her to compete on an equal footing during the World Cup and Olympic Games season. "You need to constantly monitor his state of health, it is important that he gradually return to racing, which will not take place next weekend in the national races in Beitostølen but in the opening of the World Cup in Ruka".
A lot of joy for this return, even on the part of the athlete herself: "I changed my diet and many things in my daily life to get back in shape; all thanks to a team of doctors and nutritionists who supported me in my journey. I believe. that it is very important to preserve my physical health, I have worked hard to change and I am happy with what I have been able to achieve together with the rest of the team ".
Over the course of his career, Ingvild Østberg, in addition to winning the 2018/2019 World Cup, has won two Olympic golds plus one silver and six world medals, including one gold. In the World Cup, on the other hand, he collected fifty podiums, climbing to the top fourteen times (five individually).
It remains to be seen whether in Finland we will already see an athlete capable of fighting for the top positions, or the return to high levels will require more time.
