The first titles of Vuokatti's Junior World Championship have been assigned: the Polish Monika Skinder triumphed in the women's classic sprint (junior category), ahead of the Swedish Hansson and her compatriot Kaleta. The Nordic Junior World Ski Championships have started today in Vuokatti, Finland. In the morning the first world titles were awarded, at the end of the sprint in classic technique.
The Polish Monika Skinder, born in 2001, won a very prestigious title over the Swedish Moa Hansson, proving that in the future she will be able to achieve very important results. The Polish party does not end there: another red and white athlete, Karolina Kaleta, climbed on the lowest step of the podium, even one year younger than her winning partner.
Difficult day for Italy, partially saved by the good 19th place of the very young Iris Pinter De Martin, born in 2004 from a very promising future. The other three blue in the race did not reach the final stages: Nadine Laurent, Anna Rossi and Lucia Isonni.
The first heavy metal for the organizing nation arrived in the men's race: Niilo Moilanen (class 2001) triumphed in the sprint in classic, immediately bringing a beautiful gold to Finland. Two other Scandinavian athletes got on the podium: the Norwegian Lars Agnar Hjelmeset won the silver medal, while the Swede Emil Danielsson had to settle for bronze.
Out of the final the two Azzurri who had passed the qualifications: Alessandro Chiocchetti finished 15th, Elia Barp 24th. In the morning Fabio Longo and Nicolò Cusini did not qualify.
Tomorrow it will be the turn of the Under 23s, also engaged in the classic sprint.
