On the day of yesterday came the announcement of Marthe Kristoffersen's withdrawal, not even 28 years. At the end of last decade the founder was considered one of the great hopes of the Norwegian Fund. Unfortunately, it has never become reality, even because of some physical problem too.

"It was a tough choice, but in the end I think it's the right one. I do not want to continue this journey if I can not progress, and after trying everything to do it without success, I understand I have to quit. Fundamentally, to which I have all given myself. Unfortunately, not everyone can become Olympic champions. I will continue to practice this discipline, but no more at the competitive level. "
Kristoffersen was one of the breaks of the 2008 - '09 season when he was still a teenager and got two podiums in top races. At that time it was considered a potential big circuit, like Astrid Jacobsen and Therese Johaug, the other two racing Norwegians.
His career seemed to have taken off in the winter of 2011 - 12 when he managed to finish sixth overall World Cup standings. Instead that was his peak. The following years have turned out to be an ordeal, and only in the just-concluded year it's back to seeing some small sunshine. It's not enough, however, to push Marthe to continue.
Now Kristoffersen will devote himself to academic studies and once graduated he intends to stay in the sport world.
