If in the Women's World Cup cross-country skiing the show is taken for granted, at least in the Distance, the same cannot be said for the male one. This afternoon in Davos a very hard-fought 15 km skating race was held which saw a Simen Hegstad KrÃ¼ger come out in a brilliant shape. The 26-year-old from Oslo interpreted the race perfectly, starting with a good pace, but above all progressively increasing the effectiveness of his action to begin to spread on the competition in the second part of the 15 kilometers scheduled: between the eighth and the twelfth kilometer has inflicted over 20 'of detachment to all the rivals, managing the advantage easily in the last remnants of the competition. So far the Norwegian had not stolen the eye between the stages of Ruka and Lillehammer although the pre-season tests had been positive, who knows that this result - the third victory of the career tout-court - cannot represent the turning point in view of the Tour de Ski , that already a year ago saw him protagonist. Today's square of honor for Sergey Ustiugov who preceded the idol of the house Dario Cologna at the finish line, mocked for just a second. The Russian conducted a test in line with that of KrÃ¼ger until the middle of the race, only to then progressively fall in the last part having to get to sprint to be able to stay ahead of the Swiss. Today the entire Russian team has been able to count on first-class materials, as they have not all shone on the long climb and then gained a lot of downhill terrain. The Swiss champion, on the other hand, started his fatigue in a buttoned way, but on the last lap he added high gears and even undermined the provisional second place after the top-three seemed to have flown away. In this way the thirty-three year old of the Val MÃ¼stair returned to the podium after almost two years from the winning 50 km of Oslo in March 2018, sending back to the sender the voices that gave him in the falling dish. The wheel of misfortune on the preparation of the skis this time has touched Iivo Niskanen: if the Russians have benefited from materials to the top, speech diametrically opposed for the Finn that after having fought for the victory in the first round and a half, it has had to surrender and satisfy of the fourth coin to 8 '' from the third. Speech not unlike that made for Bolshunov also for Emil Iversen (9th), but in general all Norwegians did not particularly shine, obviously with the exception of KrÃ¼ger: the specialist Sjur RÃ¸the was classified only 20th, worse he went to all the others starting from Hans Christer Holund (37th), arriving at Didrick TÃ¸nseth (49th) and Martin Johnsrud Sundby (retired in mid-test).
