Stina Nilsson is the first leader of the 2016-17 World Cup. Sweden, already brilliant second in qualifying in the sprint Ruka, has easily exceeded quarterfinals and semifinals, winning their own batteries, before folding Maiken Caspersen Falla in the final.

Per Nilsson is the first career victory in classic technique, after three to skating last season. His success in Ruka marks a first time for Sweden, who had never won a sprint in the Finnish town.
