Amazing Bjrgen: return with victory at Beitostlen

Not even a year and eight months' absence and the after-effects of an illness are enough to stop Marit Bjørgen, that on his return to competition after a season in the pits for maternity returned immediately to success.

Forced by a cold, past to his son Marius, to delay the onset of twenty-four hours, the champion from Rognes beat all in the 10 km free technique Beitostølen, the second act of the female Beitosprint. Bjørgen has made clear its intentions right from the start, by printing the fastest time at the first intermediate, after 1km, and increasing its margin on the second, to 2.2 km. In the middle phase of the race, however, the six-time Olympic champion had to suffer the return of Heidi Weng, already second in the test classic yesterday, able to take the lead to 5 km. The head to head is continued until the last survey, where the stopwatch did mark a 4/10 gap in favor of Weng. The table was thus set for a great final rush, where the more experienced of the two Norwegians swept away the young companion: 11.7 seconds, at the end, the margin by which Bjørgen crowned in his own way the rentrée. Far behind all the others, beginning with the winner of yesterday, ingvild flugstad østberg. The 26 year old Gjøvik emerged victorious from a tight battle for third place, which also involved Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen and Kari Oyré Slind, slipped back two places in the final. The Norwegian monochrome continued to eighth place, with Silje Oyré Slind, older sister Kari, Ragnhild Haga and Marthe Kristoffersen.
