Not even a year and eight months' absence and the after-effects of an illness are enough to stop Marit Bjørgen, that on his return to competition after a season in the pits for maternity returned immediately to success.

The 26 year old Gjøvik emerged victorious from a tight battle for third place, which also involved Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen and Kari Oyré Slind, slipped back two places in the final.
