The men's race featured three blues, with Davide Graz out in qualifying and the Pellegrino-De Fabiani duo having access to the quarter-finals. The vice Olympic champion, 7th time in the morning, however, did not start in the knockout phase, as a precaution after accusing a resentment in his right ankle. Certainly not the maximum two weeks after the first "real" sprint of the season. "Defa" gave way to the quarterfinals, while the final saw Even Northug (already best time in qualifying) beating compatriot Bjoernestad Skar, with Finnish Ville Ahonen third ahead of the other norge Solos Taugboel, 4th, and Paal Golberg who was placed 5th. Among the women, the Germans seemed to be dominating the scene with four athletes in the final act, but Victoria Carl, best time in the morning, in the end had to settle for fourth place behind compatriot Pia Fink and in front of Coletta Rydzek and Lisa Lohmann. Thus Norway won thanks to the inspiration of Anna Svendsen, who burned the Finnish Jasmi Joensuu to a woolen thread. Caterina Ganz, the only blue at the start, played a good Sprint reaching the semifinals, finally finishing tenth.
