Summer is still in its full splendor, yet there are already those who think and work on the events of next winter. This is also the case for the staff of the Dobbiaco-Cortina Granfondo, who planned the two days of racing for next Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th February.
The historic event dedicated to narrow skis will celebrate its 45th edition in 2022, a sign of a tradition that has been preserved since 1977 and consecrates it as the second longest-running marathon in Italy, behind the Marcialonga alone. Really important recognition for the Dobbiaco-Cortina Granfondo, which every year gathers thousands of fans along the route that from the South Tyrolean town of Dobbiaco leads to the Belluno area, to Cortina d''Ampezzo, following the old route of the "Ferrovia delle Dolomiti" built over the course of the First World War and abandoned in 1962.
Along the way the athletes leave us, in addition to the great effort, also the heart, with spectacular panoramas and breathtaking views of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the entire Dolomite front that stands out over the valley. There will be moments of great emotion with the passage to the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco, site of important stages of the Tour de Ski, or the War Cemetery of Dobbiaco, without forgetting Lake Landro and the aforementioned “Vista Tre Cime”.
At Passo Cimabanche then, as always, it will be time for the last effort before entering the town of Cortina and crossing the final finish line between two wings of the crowd. Like every year, the organizing committee chaired by Herbert Santer offers a competition program that includes the 42 km challenge in classic technique on Saturday and the 32 km skating challenge on Sunday, thus satisfying even the finest cross-country skiing palates. with the possibility, for those who are so greedy, to participate in both tests.
In the meantime, registrations are already open with the possibility of reserving a bib on the starting grid at a cost of 80 euros to start the race in classic and 60 euros for the one in free technique, all available until the next 31. August, after which the rates will undergo increases. There are still several months left until the appointment, but it is appropriate to say "who has time, do not wait for time" because the convenient and subsidized rates are destined to expire soon, so it is good not to miss this opportunity.
