Martina Valcepina and friends at the Palaghiacciaio to prepare for the next season, but the project is wide-ranging.

After a first phase in Trentino, on the ice of the Ice Rink Pinè, the work of the Italian short track national team continues in Bormio in view of the next season.
The Azzurri are training at the Palaghiaccio in the Valtellina area, where they will remain for the entire month of July under the orders of the coaches Assen Pandov and Ludovic Mathieu. Therefore, the second gathering of this preparation started late, around mid-June, due to the problems related to the Covid-19 pandemic. These athletes called up: Nicole Botter Gomez (CP Pinè), Gloria Ioriatti (Fiamme Oro), Cecilia Maffei (Fiamme Azzurre), Cynthia Mascitto (Skating Club Courmayeur), Arianna Sighel (Fiamme Oro), Arianna Valcepina (Fiamme Gialle), Martina Valcepina (Fiamme Gialle), Elena Viviani (Fiamme Gialle), Mattia Antonioli (Army), Andrea Cassinelli (Fiamme Gialle), Yuri Confortola (Carabinieri), Tommaso Dotti (Fiamme Oro), Augusto Duzioni (Sport Evolution Skating), Marco Giordano ( Carabinieri), Milan Grugni (Sport Evolution Skating), Luca Lim (Velocisti Ghiaccio Torino), Pietro Marinelli (Bormio Ghiaccio), Pietro Sighel (Fiamme Gialle), Luca Spechenhauser (Fiamme Oro) and Davide Viscardi (Army).
And always with regard to the blue short track comes an important novelty. After years of work, gatherings and preparation in Courmayeur, the senior Italian national team starting from the 2020/21 season, will move its headquarters to Bormio, where the Palaghiaccio of the Valtellinese resort has long hosted the training of the junior team led by Nicola Rodigari.
The desire to unite the great blue champions with the young promises of the tricolor movement convinced the FISG to focus on Bormio, last February already home to the Junior World Championships and always the capital of a land that many champions brought to Italy over the years: “In this way we optimize the organization of the teams in view of the next Olympic commitments - explains the president of FISG Andrea Gios - The short-medium term objective is to cement more and more the solidity and the value of the senior national team, offering them new possibilities for increase even more the already excellent performances; looking further away, from a Milan-Cortina 2026 perspective, we aim to integrate our established champions with the young talents of the Italian nursery, so as to encourage and accelerate the growth of the new generation ".
A coexistence that has already started in these days with the Junior team that has in fact just started the first summer meeting. These are called up by the Italian coach Nicola Rodigari: Chiara Betti, Elisa Confortola, Viola De Piazza, Katia Filippi, Anna Spechenhauser, Pietro Castellazzi, Thomas Nadalini, Davide Oss Chemper and Riccardo Pontalti.
