World Cup runners blue in the semifinals. Also advanced Fontana, Viviani and Confortola

Second and final day of preliminary rounds for the Olympic qualifiers at the World Cup short track speed skating. The 1000 meters and relay men and women made up the day's program, pending final (at all distances) on Saturday and Sunday to Palatazzoli of Turin.

The best news comes from the blue relay that access both to the semifinals. The path to the female, credited the second fastest time in the ranking, is clear. Different is for the male (orphan injured Nicola Rodigari, which will be operated on Mondays). With a bit of luck, center the next round being fished out with the last time after the quarter-finals. For individual races of 1000m, the budget is not as rich: the six blues that were played to the quarter (women) and in the second round (men), only half has earned the next round. Among these, Arianna Fontana and Elena Viviani will fall on the ice in Turin to play for the quarterfinals of 1000m. The only blue qualified for the knockout is Yuri Confortola. Eliminated, however, Martina Valcepina, Tommaso Dotti and Anthony Lobello. The day of qualifying saw the Fontana win all three of his preliminary batteries. Particularly convincing his latest individual, where he ruled the Scottish Elise Christie (world bronze in office on the distance). Even Elena Viviani will be among the 17 quarter-final. They will not be 16 because the blue was rightly advanced to the quarterfinals after the impropriety (and the consequent disqualification) had undergone by the Australian Lockett. Previously, however, the twenty valtellinese had easily controlled in both its first batteries. After qualifying in the 500 and won in the 1500, Martina Valcepina is unable to continue his career in the 1000. After the first two qualifying rounds, the last battery must surrender to the listed, but not irresistible to capacity dell'azzurra, opposing Marianne St-Gelais and Tatiana Borodulina. Among men, the more fit it soon became Yuri Confortola. The 27-year Tirano always passes his rounds and finishing in second place in the battery remains decisive second, ripping the qualification without going through the repechage with a large Japanese Takamido overtaking on the very last lap (drums won by baby phenomenon Tianyu Han Chinese). Confortola will be the first man to snatch the pass in time, but it is also the last. They can not, in fact, to emulate teammates Dotti and Lobello. The first is disqualified in the last qualifying round, where he challenged for the win as the two most favored, and Victor Lee Han-Bin An: after a race from third place went to chase. The blue dispute a contest of personalities with a stellar competition and looking with a desperate attempt to get back to second place on the Korean, but it's worth a penalty by the jury (objectively appeared a bit 'too severe). A missed opportunity because it will be harder for him to fall into the list of the first 32 points of the distance accumulating basic qualifications for Olympics 2014. Eliminated Anthony Lobello. Already fished out of the best third party in order to race the last round of batteries, the boy born in Tallahassee is forced to a battery or almost impossible with Park Se Yeong (later disqualified surprise), Wu and Liu Shaolin Daijing: Lobello closes last at the finish line, spaced from the first two places. A little 'luck by the stopwatch for the 5000 meters men's relay, lost one of its cornerstones in the last decade of short track: Nicola Rodigari, on the sidelines of Turin despite the fractured fibula had undergone Thursdays. The coaches of the blue Bédard and Gouadec send the young David Viscardi on the ice with his teammates Confortola, Dotti and Lobello. The Italian quartet is found to challenge suffered two major teams such as the United States and France: closes third and is fished in the first heat with the fastest time of recovery. After the shift, Italy found itself in front of armored short track such as Korea, Russia and the Netherlands. In the quarter-final joins the band Edward Reggiani instead of Viscardi. And Italy remains in the lead for over half the race before your opponents "igniting" the race. In the excitement, however, one Korean baton ends on the ground and the quartet blue shifted up one position and finished third in (6.51.818), worsening of more than four seconds battery time. The blue cheering on the track for the place in the semifinals, but will have to wait for the arrival of the last battery to make sure they were fished out as the second best third out of three ("saved" France and Italy, cut Britain for less than a second difference). The women's 3000m relay (Fontana, Peretti, Valcepina and Viviani) brilliantly passed the batteries with the second fastest time overall (first China). Preceded battery in the Netherlands, Great Britain and Bulgaria. Sunday will play for a place to enter the final against Canada, Russia and the United States. The ability to aspire to a placing of prestige seem high, given the authority by which the Italians are imposed. From tomorrow will start the competition for medals. The skaters who have passed the preliminary rounds of these days will have more chance to qualify for the Games in Sochi 2014. And they will do anything not to fallirle. The program for tomorrow, Saturday, November 9: 1500m Women (9:35) Quarterfinals (race Peretti, Valcepina and Fontana) 1500m men (at 9:55) Quarterfinals (Confortola and Dotti) 500m men (10:35), second round (Confortola) 1500m women (by 14:02) semi-finals and final 1500m men (by 15:04) semi-finals and final 500m women (from 15:34) quarterfinals, semifinals and finals 500m men (from 14:45) quarterfinals, semifinals and finals
