The path of the Italian short track team restarts, not without difficulty, in this troubled 2020/2021 season. After the positive cases at Covid 19 found a month ago in most of the tricolor group, the preparation of the blue team finally resumes in small steps, on the track of the federal technical center in Bormio, in view of the important appointments of 2021, starting from the European Championships in Gdansk (Poland) from 22 to 24 January.
The national team of coaches Assen Pandov and Ludovic Mathieu gets back to work with a meeting in Valtellina scheduled until 4 December and in which, for the moment, only four athletes take part: Martina Valcepina (Fiamme Gialle), Arianna Valcepina (Fiamme Gialle), Elena Viviani (Fiamme Gialle) and Luca Spechenhauser (CS Carabinieri). The rest of the group is currently struggling with the medical examinations necessary to resume competitive activity. Once obtained, the boys will join in these days as scheduled to the athletes already available. "While we are waiting for everyone to regain their eligibility, we hope at the most in about ten days, now we start again with those who can already work to return to aiming for the important events on the calendar, in particular the European Championships at the end of January - explains Assen Pandov - It will be a bit like starting from scratch and we will have to be careful to avoid injuries.
We will start again with less ice and more basic work, aerobic with bike or running and anaerobic in the gym, so as to make sure that the state of form is sufficient to then raise the 'intensity and move on the track ”.
