Excellent start for Italy on the first day of the 2021 Short Track World Championships, on stage on the Dutch ice of Dordrecht. Five out of six athletes go on on all scheduled tests, waiting for the first assault on the medals on Saturday; net course for women with Arianna Fontana (IceLab), Cynthia Mascitto (Skating Club Courmayeur) and Martina Valcepina (Fiamme Gialle) who passed the first qualifying rounds unscathed, obtaining the pass for the semifinals in the 1500 meters, as well as for the quarter-finals. final of 500 and 1000.
Two first places in the battery in particular for Fontana, who appeared in excellent shape (the Olympian is returning to competition after more than a year) and forced to second position only in the 1000 meters by the Dutch Schulting, and one for Valcepina in the "Its" 500 meters; very good news also from the men's front where Pietro Sighel (Fiamme Gialle) and Luca Spechenhauser (Carabinieri) have centered the qualification on all three distances with Yuri Confortola (C.S. Carabinieri) ahead only on 1000 meters.
Tomorrow the first finals of the 1500 and 500 with the debut of the relays, on which the national team of coaches Frederic Blackburn and Assen Pandov place great trust. The races will be visible live on RaiSport Web 2 and on the ISU Youtube channel.
