Short Trackworld Cup
Two podiums and four finals are the balance of the Italian team in the first leg of the Short Track 2022-2023 World Cup which took place over the weekend in Montreal.

After almost 14 years, a blue skater gets on the podium of a World Cup event in the men's 500 meters; to defeat the long taboo is Pietro Sighel, the twenty-three year old who over the distance has already obtained the Bronze medal at the World Championships in Dordrecht in 2021. The Trentino rider gets the second individual podium of his short career, overtaking the Canadian Jordan at the last corner Pierre-Gilles and finishing in third position preceded only by the Canadian Steven Dubois and the South Korean Junseo Lee.
While not counting on Arianna Fontana and Martina Valcepina, the women's relay conquers yet another podium, the 39th in its history with the third position; Elisa Confortola, Gloria Ioriatti, Arianna Sighel and Arianna Valcepina close in the wake of Holland and Canada defending the podium from the attack of the Americans.
Closes in second place but is downgraded to fourth position, due to an irregularity by Pietro Sighel, the men's relay composed by Sighel himself, Andrea Cassinelli, Thomas Nadalini and Luca Spechenhauser. On the podium are South Korea, Kazakhstan and Canada.
The fourth final with an Italian presence was, on Saturday, that of the women's 1500 meters where Arianna Sighel finished in sixth position.
The World Cup returns next weekend to Salt Lake City for the second leg.
