The Short Track World Cup kicked off in Calgary with the final act in Turin in February.
The three-day Canadian has seen a dominant Netherlands in the women's field with three wins and a second place in the four individual races. Playing the lion's share is the 1000 meter Olympic champion, Suzanne Schulting. The 21-year-old from Groningen, who in the summer said she wanted to start competing in the Speed ​​on the Pista Lunga following the inspiration of Jorien Ter Mors, set herself in the 1000 and 1500 meters. In the 1000 meters the Hungarian Shaoang Liu is imposed, which precedes the Korean Park Ji Won and the Chinese Ren Ziwei, while in the 1500 meters the first world cup of the 19 year old Japanese Kazuki Yoshinaga arrives, second place for the Korean June Seo Lee on the third step of the podium is the Israeli Vladislav Bykanov. The brothers Liu, the American national magician Cole Krueger and Csaba Burjan lead Hungary to victory, with best world performance, in the relay where South Korea closed in second place and Holland in third.
This year's debut in the Coppa del Mndo is the mixed relay on the 2000 meters that will be part of the Olympic program in 4 years in Beijing. The first race in history is won by China with Fan Kexin, Li Jinyu, Ren Ziwei and Wu Dajing that precedes Holland and South Korea.
Said by Martina Valcepina, fifth in the second race on the 500 meters, the best individual tests in the Italian field were the B finals reached in 1500 meters by Cynthia Mascitto with twelfth place finish and Yuri Confortola, thirteenth. On the same distance in the women's field Arianna Sighel comes out in the semifinals while the same fate strikes Tommaso Dotti in the men's field.
In the relays the men's quartet composed of Confortola, Dotti, Cassinelli and Mattia Antonioli won an unusual B final against the United States to finish sixth while the women's team was formed by Martina Valcepina, Botter Gomez, Elena Viviani and Arianna Valcepina in virtue of the third position in the final B behind Kazakhstan and Japan.
