The 2002 Olympic champion from Salt Lake City was on the Queensland beaches surfing: his intervention was providential.

In his Australia, Steven Bradbury is back to being talked about after 20 years from the surprising gold won in the 1000 meters of short track in Salt Lake City.
Bradbury was surfing with his son Flyn in Queensland when he saw four girls in distress in the middle of the sea. Seeing a head emerge where the waves were breaking, the Olympian thought the worst and rushed to the rescue of the person in danger. On the spot he realized that there was not a single girl in difficulty, but four. At that point, unable to help all four at the same time, Bradbury brought one of the girls back to shore, then returned to the water and went to the rescue of the other three, who thus clung to his surfboard.
During these moments of apprehension, the Australian champion's son and a friend called for help, and despite one girl hyperventilating, everything turned out for the best. The girls for their part, grateful for his gesture, declared that without him they would not have made it.
