Amedeo Bagnis dominates the European Cup skeleton weekend. In the World Cup Russian brace

A fantastic Italy dominates the weekend of European Cup skeleton races staged on the Igls track in Austria. On the gut located one step away from the Italian border, the blue team has made two splendid successes with Amedeo Bagnis and three podiums with Alessia Crippa and Valentina Margaglio in the women's races.

Bagnis splendid eleventh last weekend in his debut in the World Cup, on returning to the cadet circuit he returned to impose his own law by properly exploiting an ideal track for its technical characteristics. In Igls, in fact, those who push hard can make the difference by earning in the first section those cents that can hardly be recovered in the short guided section. The bearer of the Bob Club Cortina in the two scheduled races has performed four perfect thrusts always signing the best intempo then defending himself in the end from the attacks of rivals. In race 1 the twenty-year-old from Vercelli preceded the German Felix Seibl on the podium, while in race 2 he got the better of the British Matt Weston. Good indications also come for the Mattia Gaspari from Ampano, fourth in the first competition at 63 cents from his compatriot and seventh in race2, who is slowly finding his polish again after two years of injury stoppage. Remaining in Casa Italia we report the two twelfth positions of Manuel Schwaerzer, the twenty-sixth place of Pietro Drovanti (in race2 ed) and the twenty-eighth of Gabriele Marenchino (in race1 ed). After five tests Bagnis now leads the overall European Cup standings with only 2 points ahead of Seibl, while Gaspari is seventh at 103 lengths behind his teammate. Good news also comes from the blue women's sector, with the Ossola Alessia Crippa author of two splendid races that have brought her twice on the second step of the podium. The nineteen year old from Piedmont also confirmed on this occasion the enormous progress made in this season in the Intercontinental Cup circuit, preceding in both the Australian tests the teammate Valentina Margaglio, lined up in the European Cup to make contact with the track that in less than one week will host the World Cup. Crippa was preceded in race 1 only by the Russian Alina Tararychenkova (26 cents) and in race2 by the British Amelia Coltman (20 cents). Valentina Margaglio instead had to settle for third place in the first competition, while in the second she came in seventh place, penalized by a second start that was anything but perfect. So the other blue: sixteenth in both races Alessandra Fumagalli, nineteenth and thirteenth Elena Scarpellini. It is Russia who smiles in La Plagne in the fourth round of the skeleton World Cup. On the French gut, Elena Nikitina, holder of the World Cup, dominated the women's race by inflicting 65 cents on the Austrian Janine Flock and 86 on the leader-leader Jacqueline Loelling. Among the men second seasonal success for Alexander Tretiakov who preceded the eternal rival Martins Dukurs by 37 cents and by more than a second the duo formed by the Olympic champion Sugbin Yun and by Wenqianq Geng who gave China the first historic podium in the Cup of the world. In the general classification he now commands Dukurs with just 4 lengths on Tretiakov and 21 on the German Axel Jungk, fifth in La Plagne. The next appointment with the maximum circuit of the skeleton is scheduled in seven days in Austria in Igls, the European Cup will instead move to Sigulda in Latvia.
