After 16 years of high-level career in the world of skeleton, only twenty-nine German Frank Rommel has announced his retirement in a press release published on the website of the German Federation.

"In this long period I enjoyed it so much, thanks to this sport I pututo travel a lot and as a result I had the chance to discover new places and interesting people. I think I have ended his career with a flourish at the end of the Olympics and especially after winning the bronze in Koenigssee Europe. "
Rommel native of Zella-Mehlis, but living in Suhl, in over half a decade of sports, has taken great satisfaction obtaining three world medals, silver in Lake Placid in 2012, to which are added two bronze medals in the editions of 2008 and 2011. In the World Cup, the athlete of Thuringia has taken part in 70 races guaranteeing 7 hits and 22 podiums, along with becoming Olympic champion Alexander Tretyakov one of the biggest opponents of champion Martins Dukurs.
Last season Rommel has suffered numerous physical problems that have often relegated away from the podium, but in the last Cup competition also valid for the European Championship came a little 'surprise bronze medal continental unique that still was not part of its prestigious honors. The biggest regret for the talented German concerns the Olympic Games, where three holdings has never done better than seventh place in Vancouver 2010.
The future of Frank seems to be the time away from the icy slopes, Rommel fact will be employed full time in the family business.
