Historical day for the world of blue sport. In Altenberg at the skeleton world championships, Mattia Gaspari and Valentina Margaglio won the bronze medal in the Mixed Team, bringing for the first time the Italian colors to the podium of a world skeleton event.

An immense and completely unexpected result, in a competition that saw its absolute debut at the Altenberg World Championships. The format that includes the sum of the times of a female and a male descent, has seen Valentina Margaglio a splendid protagonist. The Alexandrine found today that feeling with the track that she had missed in the previous days and printed a splendid third half of the fraction. Gaspari then completed the work bringing a well-deserved world bronze to Italy.

On the historic blue day, Francesco Friedrich wrote a new page in the history of the bob. The champion of Pirna, already winner in the last few days of the world title of two-man bobsleigh, won his third consecutive gold in the four-man bobsleigh, equaling the record of 9 world championship titles conquered by Eugenio Monti.
The German driver supported by the brakemen Candy Bauer, Martin Grothkopp and Alexander Schueller was the protagonist today of a splendid recovery that led him from partial fourth place on the first day to the third consecutive world championship triumph. Friedrich with two heats on the verge of perfection, he first paired his compatriot Nico Walther at the top of the classification and then he put the arrow by detaching the remounting Lochner by 5 cents. Third place for Walther at 23 cents from the top, who completed yet another podium all made in Germany in the history of bobsleighing.
First of the non-Teutonic ones was the "usual" Oskars Kibermanis who in the first day of competitions had managed to enter the second place of the provisional ranking. The Baltic in the last 2 heats, however, was unable to keep up with the frenzied pace of the three Germans and had to settle for the "wooden medal". Good results for the Austrian Maier fifth for the Czech extraordinarily sixth Dvorak.
Overall good performance also for the blue bob with Baumgartner, Verginer, Bilotti and Ughi who finished in fourteenth position.
