Skeleton: in St. Moritz Alexander Gassner jokes Martins Dukurs! Tina Hermann's first success of the season among women

First career success for the German, who precedes the ruler of the World Cup by just one cent; on the podium also the Korean Yung Sugbin, on his seasonal debut. 18th Amedeo Bagnis. Tina Hermann instead captures her eleventh career success, ahead of Janine Flock and Jacqueline Loelling; seventeenth Alessandra Fumagalli.

On the Swiss gut of St. Moritz it is Germany that makes the big voice. Alexander Gassner snaps the fifth win of the season from Latvian champion Martins Dukurs by just one cent; for the thirty-one year old German this is the first career victory in the World Cup. Gassner was able to recover 21 cents in the second heat in Dukurs, who was in the lead after the first lap. On the podium also the Korean Yung Sungbin, 47 cents behind the winner. The best of the Azzurri was Amedeo Bagnis, 18th, returning after having solved his back problems. Pietro Drovanti did not qualify for the second heat and finished 27th. Absent Mattia Gaspari, busy in Altenberg training for the European Cup, and tomorrow he will compete in the Intercontinental Cup. Germany on the shields also for women: Tina Hermann wins the eleventh race of her career, reaching a victory from the absolute record of victories in the World Cup. Second position for the Austrian Janine Flock, increasingly leader of the general classification of the World Cup; another Teutonic athlete, Jacqueline Loelling, completes the podium. At home Italy excellent 17th place for rookie Alessandra Fumagalli, who has shown to have considerable room for improvement; 18th Alessia Crippa, penalized by a serious mistake in the first heat. Absent Valentina Margaglio, also engaged in Altenberg, where unfortunately she had a muscular resentment, which will force her to skip the next stage of Koenigssee, and then return to Igls, the last stage before the Altenberg World Championships. Four members of the Russian team were also involved in training in Altenberg, and absent today: Elena Nikitina, Yulia Kanakina, Alexander Tretiakov and Nikita Tregubov. The four Italian athletes competing today (Bagnis, Drovanti, Fumagalli and Crippa) will be protagonists, again in St. Moritz, next week for the Junior World Championships.
