THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD
The World Championships in luge are one of the most sporting events & ugrave; dell''intero ancient landscape of winter sports. The first edition is iridescent & egrave; in fact held in 1955 in Oslo, Norway, and from that date onwards we were organized other 44 editions, although to be honest the 1966 World Cup awarded to the German town of Friedrichroda have never gone on stage.
Traditionally the 'World Championship event held annually except in Olympic years when medals are awarded. However for a short period (1981-1989) the frequency of the event became biennial, but later the International Federation riport & ograve; back championships annually. Since the first edition have been awarded the world titles in the specialty & agrave; of: men's singles, women's singles and doubles, and only since 1989 & egrave; He introduced the team competition.
Throughout history many as 24 runs were the scene of at least one event champion, among them the most & ugrave; used absolute & egrave; to Koenigssee in Bavaria which hosted the beauty of five World Championships. The 'Italian organized only two editions: in 1971 in Olang in South Tyrol and recently in 2011 in the much discussed in Cesana Olympic track.
The 'last event champion is & egrave; held in 2013 in Canada to Whistler on the same facility that hosted the Olympic Games of 2010, edition decisively to forget for the Italian team that returned & ograve; home only with a miserable seventh place in the doubles with Christian Oberstolz and Patrick Gruber, while in a race of any single Italian centr & ograve; the top ten.
The world championship is not as usual will assign & agrave; points for the ranking of the World Cup, but set within the final list will be elected also the Under-23 World Champions reserved for the runners of agrave & et; less than or equal to twenty-three years.
