Dominik Fischnaller took second place with the first leg of the World Cup sled held in the weekend on the Igls track.

On the Austrian basin the leading athlete of the Italian movement in the race disputed with the traditional format was the author of a splendid second descent that allowed him to go back three places compared to the first run. The 'blue today' must regret only having made some minor inaccuracy in the central section of the first fraction that has prevented him to undermine the leadership of the German Johannes Ludwig.
Fischnaller has indeed closed at only 98 thousandths from the winner, impressing so much in the fundamental of the thrust (4th and 5th starting time n.dr.) that until last year was his true Achilles' heel, while he was not helped sufficiently from the materials in the final part of the track so much so that in the next sprint race has never been fighting for a place on the podium, finishing in eighth place.

The thirty-two year old Suhl then finished in fourth place in the sprint test won by the Austrian Wolfgang Kindl, very good in the traditional competition to rise from the sixteenth to the third position going to the top of the World Cup standings. Kevin Fischnaller, the other blue rider involved in today's competitions, had to settle for eighth place in the format on two heats and tenth in the sprint.
Among the women two goals for the two-time Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger who has won both races in the program. The Bavarian champion sweated very hard to get the better of the young compatriot Julia Taubitz, the author of the track record during the first heat of the traditional Saturday test. In the final heat, Geisenberger took the pride of the champion away from the teammate by just 36 millimeters. Third place for Tatjana Huefner detached of 256 milliseconds, eighth Dajana Eitberger penalized by a disastrous first run, while in Casa Italia it is worth mentioning the comforting fifth place of Andrea Voetter and the less satisfying twenty-third place of Sandra Robatscher.
In the sprint Geisenberger has again preceded Julia Taubitz this time of 22 thousandths, while on the third step of the podium has risen Dajana Eitberger. Seventh square final for Andrea Voetter the only blue to have the right to participate in the sprint race.
Big surprise in the doubles, where the Austrians Thomas Steu and Lorenz Koller have collected a historic double in front of the home crowd. The only red and white association in the race (retired veterans Penz-Fischler ed) has expressed itself at most in both competitions in the program taking full advantage of the field factor and above all the many mistakes in which they have incurred the highly favored German Wendl- Artl (seventh and third) and Eggert-Benecken (second and fifth) especially in the two-man race. The opaque weekend of the Teutonic doubles allowed the Russians Yuzhakov-Prokorov to grab the third step of the podium in the traditional format and the second place in the sprint.
Of the three double blues in the race, the one who performed the best was the one composed by Ludwig Rieder and Patrick Rastner, authors of a fifth and a seventh place. Seventeen and not qualified for the sprint race on Sunday, the promising Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier that without the heavy mistake committed at the start of the first heat would have ended in the top five. Ugly overthrow luckily without too many consequences instead for the new blue association formed by former singer Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner who had concluded the first heat with a good ninth place.
The next round of the artificial sledding World Cup is scheduled for seven days on Whistler's Canadian gut.
