Weekend of competitions to be filed in a hurry for the national blue of toboggan on artificial track. At Whistler on the track that hosted the Vancouver 2010 Olympic trials, the Italian team has never been fighting for top positions in the standings, obtaining only a significant result in the final relay.

The team led by Technical Director Armin Zoeggeler revealed obvious material problems throughout the Canadian weekend that affected their performance. Austria, on the other hand, has shown that it has made a clear improvement in terms of speed performance, presenting itself to Whistler with the fastest rides of the entire circus.
The biancorosso team led by another great toboggan, that Markus Prock who for years has been fighting on track with a young Armin Zoeggeler, has reaffirmed to be by now the only team able to worry the German battleship in two of the three traditional disciplines of the toboggan.
In the men's single, Wolfgang Kindl took his sixth career success, printing the new British Columbia track record in the second run, preceding the German champion Felix Loch by 99 thousandths. The thirty-year-old from Tyrol has made the difference in both the heats scheduled in the very fast final stage, trimming in just 9 seconds over a tenth to the first of the beaten. To complete the Austrian party, Reinhard Egger thought that once qualified by the Nations Cup it was unleashed in the race valid for the World Cup hoisting to third place taking only 28 thousandths from Felix Loch.
With this success the second consecutive three races, Wolfgang Kindl has also passed the lead of the overall standings now driving with 55 lengths ahead of the German Johannes Ludwig (fifth in Whistler n.d.r.) and 65 on Felix Loch. Tender decidedly subdued for the blue colors. Dominik Fischnaller, second last weekend in Igls, was placed eighth after closing the first heat at the sixth. Kevin Fischnaller finished in fourteenth place, while the young debutant Fabian Malleier finished in thirtieth position.
Austria on the shields in the double, with the association Thomas Steu and Lorenz Koller who showed in Canada that the double success of Igls was not just the result of the field factor. The two young Tyrolean have in fact closed the first fraction in command and only a big mistake committed in the last part of the final race has prevented him to conquer a historic trio sinking to fourth place, but still maintaining the leadership in the overall standings.
To benefit from the counter-performance of the red and white were all three Teutonic crews who found themselves served on the silver plate an unexpected three of a kind. Germany has in fact monopolized the podium of Whistler placing on the highest step Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken, in second place the young Geueke-Gamm and third the two-time Olympic champions Wendl-Arlt.
A podium that will pass to the annals, above all due to the very considerable margin of advantage of the winners with respect to the second and third classified. The three doubles closed enclosed in just 29 thousandths! Race undertone for Ludwig Rieder and Patrick Rastner only blue at the start, who were placed in ninth position.
Third consecutive win for Natalie Geissenberger who continues to have no rivals on Whistler's track. The German champion has trimmed the beauty of 291 thousandths on the first of the measures capturing the 46th success of his career. The Bavarian to not miss anything has also signed the new record of the British Columbia gut track Second position for a convicente Julia Taubitz who continues to play the role of second top athlete of Germany, while third at 417 thousandths closed the rebound American Emily Sweeney.
So the other two Germans are out of the podium. Tatjana Huefner had to settle for fourth place, while Dajana Eitberger only picked up the eighth place. For Italian colors, tenth square for Andrea Voetter and thirteenth for Sandra Robatscher.
In the team test surprising success of Russia, which especially thanks to the doubles has managed to get the best on favoritissima Germany. The Russian team composed of Tatyana Ivanova, Semen Pavlichenko and Kashkin-Korshunov preceded 90 thousandths of the German squadron and 289 thousandths of Canada. Fourth place to 160 thousandths from the podium for Italy.
The World Toboggan Cup continues its North American Tournee with the Calgary event scheduled for next weekend.
