Faster than the blue were the two Austrians Wolfgang Kindl and Jonas Mueller who gave Austria a splendid double in a season where the red and white are getting a lot of satisfaction. Third place for the aforementioned Johannes Ludwig, winner yesterday in the test on the traditional format, who thus consolidated his leadership in the general classification.
In the women's field, successes for the German Julia Taubitz and for the increasingly convict Madeleine Egle. The Teutonic in the race over two heats was the author of a splendid final descent that earned her the new record of the Tyrolean track and above all the third success of the season. Taubitz mocked rival Egle by just 12 thousandths and star Natalie Geisenberger by 348 thousandths. Fourth place for another German, Anna Berreiter, who in the absence of Dajana Eitberger (out for positivity at Covid-19) continues to prove extremely competitive, launching her candidacy for a place in the Teutonic trio at the Beijing Olympics. Good performance for the Italian Andrea Votter seventh, after a first heat closed in ninth position, and also the other Italians Verena Hofer (11th) Marion Oberhofer (14th) and Nina Zoeggeler (15th) who were automatically in the first fifteen qualify for the sprint.
In the second seasonal women's sprint, the Austrian Madeleine Egle immediately took a nice revenge against Julia Taubitz, preceding the winner of the 2019-20 World Cup by 50 thousandths. Instead, the other two Germans Anna Berreiter (third) and Natalie Geisenberger (fourth) swap positions, preceding the Latvian Tiruma in the top five. Supporting positions for the blue who occupy all the placings ranging from eleventh to fourteenth place. Leading the blue "train" is the veteran Voetter in front of her companions Hofer, Zoeggeler and Oberhofer.
Among the doubles, in the last sprint of 2021, the Germans Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken return to the fore and after yesterday's anonymous thirteenth place they obtain their second seasonal success. The Thuringian duo preceded the Latvian brothers Sics by 55 thousandths and by 65 thousandths the formidable Steu-Koeller who in the last two post-injury weekends have collected two wins and a podium. Fifth place for the best blue association composed of Ludwig Rieder and Patrick Rastner, only eighth instead Rieder-Kainzwaldner yesterday protagonists of a good third place, and tenth position for the young Nagler-Malleier.
Now the Luge World Cup is taking a weekend break for the Christmas holidays, but in two weeks the top sledding circuit will be back on track in Winterberg where the return of Felix Loch and Dajana Eitberger are expected.
