Italy's tobogganing returns to raise the team World Cup to the sky after 14 years and does so in Koenigssee at the end of a crazy race full of twists.

To the Italian team, thanks to the result of direct rival Russia in the fight against the general classification, it would have been enough to finish in the top ten positions to bring back to Italy a title that was missing from the 2005-2006 season. Yet the Italian team after two good fractions of Andrea Voetter and Dominik Fischnaller went to risk compromising everything in the fraction of the double, with the young Nagler-Malleier who perhaps taken by the emotion of the moment, went completely into the ball, first slamming violently against the banks of the track and then reversing closing in tenth and last place.
A result that, net of the regulation and of Russia's contemporary third place, has also allowed the Zoeggeler team to raise the Crystal Ball to the sky, even if for the first time in the history of the sled in co-habitation of the Russian formation. A thriller finale that has not displeased anyone even if it seems truly incredible as in 2020 there are still no clear and well-defined rules to decree the winner of the World Cup.
Regulatory doubts aside, the team led by Armin Zoeggeler deservedly won this title, since in this format it has proved by far the most constant and competitive throughout the entire season. Italy is in fact the nation that has achieved the most podiums during the winter, also gaining success in the opening stage in Igls.
The real keystone in the growth of the Italian team was Andrea Voetter who made a real leap in quality this season both in the races in which he ran as a singles player and in those of the relay team. The 25-year-old South Tyrolean has often launched the blue team on par with the other nations in a fraction, the first, in which Italy suffered the comparison with the other powers until the past season.
Today's race went to Germany which gave Felix Loch the first and only triumph of the season. The United States placed behind the Germans by more than 8 tenths, while Russia rose on the third step of the podium as mentioned above.
