This coming weekend, the German track in Winterberg will host the third round of the World Cup luge on artificial track.

The route of the Hochsauerland, was completed in 1977 and over the years has undergone several modifications, especially regarding the departures. The German gut in fact, is one of the few in the world to have three different start point for the three disciplines of the sled.
Winterberg has hosted World Cup competitions since the beginning of the season'' s maximum circuit of the sled. In the first edition, dated 1979-1980, the Italian national team celebrated the success in the trial of Ernst Haspinger male, between the double victory went to the German Federal Brandner-Schwarm while among women it imposed the'' Austrian Angelika Schafferer.
This track also was the scene of three editions of the European Championship (1982, 1992, 2000) and two exhibitions in the world championship in 1989 and 1991.
Among the features of this system stand out: the first three curves called Omega, the curve 7 or better a kreisel 270 degrees which takes the name of the local beer brand Veltins, and finally the maze placed on the final part of the path that is formed by the curves 11,12 and 13.
