The last stage of the World Cup with the world of long track speed took place in Heerenveen, the Dutch temple of speed skating, which paid a great tribute to two local idols at the final step of a legendary career: Sven Kramer and Ireen Wust but the weekend was not stingy with satisfactions for the blue colors.
Francesca Lollobrigida, with the two Beijing medals around her neck, finished the final Mass Start in third place behind the Dutch Schouten and Groenewoud, winning the necessary points to conquer the third World Cup in the specialty after those of 2013/14 and 2017 / 18. Fourth in the 3000 meters race, the thirty-one year old from Rome also won third place in the seasonal standings on distance.
The Mass Start, declined to men, saw the second place of Andrea Giovannini who, as in 2017 and 2018, closes the season in second place in the World Cup standings behind only the Belgian Bart Swings.

In the men's field, the Canadian Dubreuil in the 500 meters, the Dutch Thomas Krol in the 1000 meters win the World Cup. the American Mantia in the 1500s, Nils van der Poel in the long distances and the Belgian Bart Swings in the Mass Start. Erin Jackson wins the 500m World Cup, Brittany Bowe the 1000m, the Japanese Miho Takagi on 1500, the Dutch Irene Schouten the long distances and Francesca Lollobrigida the Mass Start
