After being the rulers of the Beijing Olympics, the Swede and the Dutch continue their magical season by winning the World Championships in Hamar. Seventh place for Davide Ghiotto.

On the ice of Hamar, the weekend was dedicated to the assignment of the Allroun and Sprint world titles in anticipation of the World Cup finals that will take place in Heerenveen next weekend.
After having triumphed at the Olympics in the 5000 and 10000 meters, Nils van der Poel breaks the domination that had lasted for three editions of the Dutch Patrick Roest with a spectacular performance in the 10000 meters that closed the event. Having started with 21 seconds to recover on the Dutchman, the Swede shattered the Norwegian track record held by Sven Kramer after 13 years and put all the pressure on Roest who was forced to surrender the world scepter by closing with the medal d''Argento and a gap of almost 23 seconds in the final classification. Bronze medal for the Belgian Bart Swings at 30.44.
Davide Ghiotto, who reached the podium in the 5000 and 10000 with two third places, finished with the seventh overall position, the best result of his career.
At the end of the races van der Poel confirmed his intention to close with high-level competitions, reserving the right to participate in the next seasons only in the Swedish championships and, perhaps, in the 10,000 meters world championship.
In the women's field, the fight saw the Dutch Schouten and de Jong and the Japanese Miho Takagi, winner of the title in 2018, engaged on the edge of the seconds up to the final 5000 meters.
Gold in Beijing in the 3000, 5000 and Mass Start, Schouten managed to conquer the first allround world title of her career by limiting the damage in the fast trials by recovering in the final 5000 the 6 seconds that separated her from the Japanese who had to settle for the second post at 3.31 while Antoinette De Jong climbs on the third step of the podium.
Francesca Lollobrigida left the competition after the first day in which she closed the 3000 meters in seventh place.
In the Sprint World Championships the titles went to the Dutch Thomas Krol and his compatriot Jutta Leerdam while a good David Bosa finished in eighth position, his best ever finish in a world championship.
In Team Sprint, the tricolor trio made up of Jeffrey Rosanelli, Mirko Giacomo Nenzi and David Bosa finished their test in 1'21 ″ 10, 29 hundredths of a second from the podium with the Netherlands third in the race won by Norway in front of Poland .
