World Cup Grand Final: Simone Origone wants the 11th, Valentina Greggio needs a miracle

Friday and Saturday the last races in Grandvalira, in the Principality of Andorra: the two Azzurri in the running for the absolute crystal ball

It will be the last big event of the winter sports season, which will end as usual with the final races of the Speed Ski World Cup. Four races are scheduled in Grandvalira, in the Principality of Andorra, between Friday 12 and Saturday 13 April: two men's and two women's events, to assign the respective crystal balls with two Azzurri running for confirmation, with just a few days from the triumphs of the world championships of Vars. Simone Origone commands the ranking of the men's Cup and goes on the hunt for the eleventh victory in the general classification: the champion of the Aosta Valley will have to defend 60 points ahead of the Austrian Manuel Kramer and 85 against the Frenchman Simon Billy. Together with the reigning world champion, his brother Ivan, Emilio Giacomelli and the young Simone Capello will be on the track. Much more complicated mission for Valentina Greggio, winner of the last four World Cups: there are 80 points to recover against the Swedish Britta Backlund. With the 28 year old from Verbania, the other Italian Bianca Bonetti will also be in the race.
