In Vars, the Aosta Valley and the Verbanese are in full swing for the world title: wind permitting, now the semifinal and then the final with the two favorites.

Simone Origone and Valentina Greggio were the fastest on the second day of the World Ski Speed Championships in Vars, France, still affected by gusts of wind that prevented the complete development of the program. In fact, between Friday and Saturday, just two of the five scheduled runs were disputed, which in any case served to define the twenty men and four women who will play the semifinal and final on Sunday for the world titles of the discipline.
The Aosta Valley champion, gold medalist in career on six occasions, set the best speed with 199.32 km / h, just ahead of the French Simon Billy (199.26 km / h), while the Austrian Manuel Kramer is third with 198.51 km / h. Ivan Origone finished ninth with 193.28 km / h, Jena Daniel Pession twenty-sixth with 193.96 km / h and did not pass the cut.
Greggio has imposed the law of the strongest and seems to have a margin on rivals: with 193.46 km / h, the very champion from Verbania preceded the French Clea Martinez, second with 189.77 km / h, third and fourth place for the Swedish Anna Matslofva and Britta Backlund with 187.62 km / h and 185.60 km / h respectively.
