It was another magical year for Simone Origone, able to win his World Cup No. 11 at Grandvalira (Andorra) last Saturday, bringing Italy to 5 absolute trophies in the 2018/19 season: beyond to the champion of the Valle d'Aosta, in fact, Dorothea Wierer is assured the female biathlon World Cup standings, Robert Antonioli that of the male mountaineering ski, Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara that of the double in natural sled and Evelyn Lanthaler that of the female single in the natural sled .
"An unforgettable year ended with the eleventh cup and the sixth world title - the words of the champion from Valle d'Aosta after winning the trophy - For the sixth time I scored a double that I believe has no precedent in winter sports . It was just a pity that there were no conditions to attempt the world record at Vars, I would have had a good chance. The season started uphill, in Finland in the first stage I brought materials that were not too good, I lost some ground but then I quickly recovered in the next test in Sweden, and at the World Championships I reiterated my superiority. Here at the Andorra finals I kept a bang because there wasn't much snow, but I ended up with two more victories. My knees in these months have supported me and, as long as they continue to support me, I will try to stay on the top step of the podium ".
