A chairlift chairlift crashed last night in Switzerland, causing 4 serious injuries, two of which are life threatening.

It was one of the chairs at the Fronalpstock lift in the Swiss ski resort of Stoos. Two of the skiers who were in the chair at the time of the crash, a 33 year old and a 40 year old, are in danger of life, while the other two men aged 33 and 38 have been seriously injured. The accident occurred late yesterday evening and rescue operations on the fallen chair and the two neighbors lasted for over two hours.
According to local media reports, before the fall the cabin would have hit a cable of a winch of a snowcat, used to beat the slopes in the steep sections. The injured were transported to the hospital by helicopter and were part of a group of ten who returned from a business trip of a famous chocolate-making brand.
Thomas A. Meyer, chairman of the ski lift board of directors, reacted with dismay to the accident. He spoke of a terrible disaster and turned his thoughts to the injured.
