“We underestimated the situation in the Summer. We thought we could keep the virus under control »but it didn't happen. Guy Parmelin took over as president of the Swiss Confederation on January 1 of this year and, in the face of a second wave that hit the country hard, takes a stand on the choices made by his country. Most decisions are taken at the cantonal level in Switzerland, but the presidency of the Confederation is called upon to play a coordinating role.
In the cantons of Neuchâtel, Vaud (Lausanne, Geneva) and Valais (Zermatt, Saas Fee, Verbier, Crans Montana) the reproduction rate of the virus has risen above 1 for more than three days and since Sunday they have decided to close museums, libraries, fitness centers, sports facilities, zoos and parks. Shops will close on Sundays and other days from 19:00, with the exception of bakeries and pharmacies which may also remain open on Sundays. Cinemas, theaters, concert halls, bars and discos are always closed. A situation comparable to the measures taken in our Red Regions, but among the measures taken there are no restrictions on the ski lifts and therefore in the ski areas, which remain open, probably on the basis of an assessment of the risk of contagion.
