Ski-Test 2018/19: Fischer between The Curv and the new Ranger

For the next season Fischer re-proposes its solid range, articulated on The Curv, the Ranger for off-piste and the always appreciated RC4 Worldcup SC, which is awarded as one of the best proposals in the slalom field.

As a racecarver, GS Fischer brings the new RC4 The Curv CB to the Pampeago tests, equipped with the Curv Booster plate and titanal reinforcements. The ski immediately transmits safety, manages to fit well into the corners and leads well, despite being quite thinking. It is not a GS with purely racing inspirations, gives the best of itself in the medium and driven curves, the wide center penalizes it slightly in tight corners and in the change of pace, but on the other hand, it offers a truly exaggerated stability and inclinations on every slope. Like last year, the Fischer RC4 Worldcup SC in the Slalom racecarver field was chosen by the Tester. Skiing is rewarded because it is simple in all conditions, always intuitive and never nervous or scurvy. It is not a poles machine, but the simplicity of handling the narrow curve is among the best on the market, it offers a perfect compromise between performance, stability, solidity and management. The fluidity of management is therefore the true plus of this ski that is successful to face any slope in fluency but it is the medium-advanced user to whom it is addressed, for skiing not necessarily at the limit but to be used all day. The Fischer RC4 Worldcup SC also performs well in lateral grip, denotes excellent agility in the change of pace and allows folds to the limit. In the allround performance field we find The Curv GT, the latest in the The Curv family. The Austrian proposal combines the important structure of The Curv by GS and an increased sidecut, to pass unharmed on snowdrifts and rough terrain. The tracks that do not seem billiards are his daily bread, indeed, skiing is almost more comfortable in these conditions, thanks to an excellent floatation on the snows transformed, according to all our testers. breaks down, once you set the curve you proceed without vibration and without uncertainty, while decreasing the speed the structure emerges too much, making the ski much less maneuverable until it becomes nervous. Instead, the Ranger range, completely revisited and transformed with respect to the old series that is the host in the freeski field. Fischer technicians have done a great job, distorting the old line, giving the public of 2019 a well structured and above all precise ski . The Fischer Ranger 98 Ti is a truly all-rounder, very good buoyant ski that can be used to ski well on slopes and off-piste regardless of snow conditions. Its strong point in fresh snow is the short and medium arches, on the track it does not excel but it never disfigures. It is stable, easy, versatile and balanced. The structure is still slightly too soft to be well led on the beaten track. The conformation of the model, tested with 180cm in length, make it ideal for trips in touring with the skins but also in the days of powdery fresh snow thanks to its excellent qualities of waterline. In the pure freeride field we find the Fischer Ranger 115Fr, which also excels in floatation and immediately proves to be much more stable than the younger brother. The ski also likes jumps, where the tail holds up well during the landing phase. the ski has an extra gear, always stable and excellent in the wide bends, from the best if conducted at high speeds. It proves to be an excellent companion for any freerider with good technical abilities in off-piste, is also aimed at agonists, great for competitions of Freeride Big Mountain, Backcountry and Deep Powder.
