Ski test 2019/20: the results of the range V lkl

We tried nine skis in the 2020 range of the German company, including racecarver, freeride, all-mountain and ski for the female market, to you the results of the test!

Let's start with the Völkl Racetiger GS, the proposal of the German company is for the wide curves of level 6/7: it is a very balanced ski, not difficult and very easy to handle. It is characterized by lightness and stability in the wide and medium arc, from a pleasant entrance, but only in the wide curves with an excellent yield on compact snows. In fact, the ski gets the highest score in the “maneuverability” item, appreciated by the whole Test Team for the ease of managing the curve within the chosen radius : medium-wide curves. The structure is fairly light and guarantees good stability only in medium-wide curves. Instead, management becomes more difficult when tightening the radius. In the slalom racecar field the German company presents the Völkl Racetiger SL with the built-in UVO 3D anti-vibration system: the ski is always stable, thanks to a rigid structure and a spatula always present and to work in curved entry.This Völkl Racetiger SL is also appreciated for the conduction, that is for the ability to allow a modern skiing, conducted, without interruptions and without empty moments, when we understand and trust the structure, the slalom bends come without too much effort. In the allround we find the Deacon series, with the Deacon 74 PRO as high performance skis. The tool is not immediately intuitive, but once understood it is appreciated by many skiers, making it easy to handle and light, with good handling, especially from mid-bend onwards. In the first part of the bend, the heaviness of the spatula that makes the ski stable is accused. from the first meters, but just as tiring to put it on edge: you always have to stand on it, otherwise it flattens. Skiing is appreciated for its stability and its flexibility in passing between curve arcs. For a more general public, in the field of all-round tourism, Völkl presents the Deacon 76 for skiers of level 5: a great product characterized by a wider sidecut than some competitors aimed at giving stability in more situations. The ski immediately appeared to be a upper level, and it is the great stability to be appreciated by every testator, the German tool then has an excellent entry and development of the curve in conduction remaining precise throughout the curve. All appreciate its stability and the beauty of skiing at medium speeds / high: when you let go with speed-driven curves you can give your best, even if you have to work a little at the corner, especially if you are a skier of level 5. It is clear how good it is product for the evolved tourist, but the combination of structure and sidecut make it more suitable for a higher level due to the commitment required in the management. Alongside the products of the Deacon series we find the new Racecarver SC and RC, proposed for a wide public of skiers, being suitable for the skier in evolution up to a level 5. The Völkl Racecarver SC is particularly appreciated in the medium and narrow curves, has a structure similar to the racecarver but with greater comfort, it makes the short bow easy even at a level 4 because it is intuitive and manageable and it performs in the narrow for the category. The ski enters well into the curve and remains under the foot while resulting in a dancer high speedThe Völkl Racetiger RC, confirms the high stability and performance as key features of the German product. The ski is in fact excellent for medium and wide curves, stable at high speeds, remains very close to the ground and stable even on snowdrifts and with reported snows. Skiing, compared to excellent performance, is a bit complicated to manage for level 4, especially in the curved entrance: we therefore recommend this product not to people who want to evolve but who already have a solid foundation for running and are looking for a ski exclusively for the track. The feminine declination of the Völkl all-arounds is represented by the Flair SC Carbon, which has proven to be comfortable and manageable, with a simple and easy handling for a low audience. The ski in fact appears easy to turn at low speeds, with a soft structure that allows a simple bending in the arc of the curve. The ski finds some difficulties in speed and wide curves, also given the 163cm measurement of the test. In the freeski field we find two "historical" skis for Völkl: the Mantra and the Kendo. The Völkl Mantra is not an extreme ski, the 102mm below the feet are almost few to those who are used to the product for intense powder. The rigid structure makes it excel in all situations with rigid and compact snow and even on the track: it is the ideal ski for those who want a tool that can handle any terrain. The ski is reactive and agile on the track, for jumps and descents in open spaces and at speed, the tip is very rigid and is a precision scalpel on hard snow bends. The 102mm of sidecut is not an impediment on the track but does not help a lot in the buoyancy, and they don't allow to indicate the ski between those specifically indicated for the powder nor for the competitions in off-piste. In the freeride all-mountain field the Kendo is instead presented. The ski is performing, with an excellent spatula that is reactive in the curve phase, beautiful in any condition from the track. The ski is very stable and structured, fun, aggressive despite being light as a structure. The weak points of the Völkl Kendo encountered by the testers are the poor buoyancy in conditions of fresh snow above 20 cm, but the Völkl Kendo, tested in the 177cm size, he turned out to be an excellent representative of the Freeride All Mountain category, a well structured and performing ski.
